Morocco announce legal action against CAF & FIFA after AFCON 2025 defeat

Morocco lost the AFCON final 1-0 against Senegal.
The aftermath of the tumultuous AFCON 2025 final is still being felt. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has issued an official statement demanding disciplinary punishment in response to the events that interrupted the game against Senegal.
Morocco vehemently denounces the Senegalese teamβs decision to exit the field following the awarding of a late penalty, which severely disrupted the game. It increased tensions in an already tense environment.
The FRMF reaffirmed in its statement that it will take the issue to FIFA and CAF, asking for a decision about Senegalβs withdrawal from the field and the circumstances surrounding it.

The federation emphasised that the penalty was βdeemed correct by all experts.β They contended that Senegalβs complaint had an impact on both the playersβ performance and the gameβs regular flow. Morocco feel that such behaviour compromises the competitionβs integrity and calls for severe penalties.
In spite of the issue, the FRMF also thanked Moroccans for their tremendous attendance and steadfast support during the competition. As the discussion about accountability and potential penalties is only getting started, the federation thanked everyone who helped organise the competition. They reaffirmed Moroccoβs dedication to African football.
Simultaneously, the federation sent its sincere appreciation to Moroccan fans for their steadfast devotion during the competition, whether it was through their robust presence in the stands or the excellent support displayed during every game. It emphasised how important fan support was to the Atlas Lionsβ outstanding performance throughout the competition.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation also reiterated its dedication to institutional respect and sportsmanship, fully retaining the right to use the proper legal channels to protect national footballβs interests until the relevant authorities make final decisions.
