Morocco face a tough test in the World Cup match against Brazil tonight.
Morocco will take on five-time champions Brazil at MetLife Stadium in the biggest match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 so far. The Atlas Lions enter the expanded 48-team tournament as the highest-ranked African side and are considered one of the dark horses, but will face a tough test against a Neymar-less Selecao.
Walid Regragui stepped down from the role of head coach following the chaotic AFCON 2025 final against Senegal, leading to Mohamed Ouahbi being handed the reins to the team. He has named a strong squad, but injuries have led to the exits of Nayef Aguerd and Abde Ezzalzouli.
Despite that, the North African side boasts a talented roster, featuring the likes of Lille prodigy Ayyoub Bouaddi and Real Madrid attacker Brahim Diaz. Drawn in a group that also contains Scotland and Haiti, the Atlas Lions will look to test their mettle against one of the best teams in the tournament tonight.
Let’s look at the Morocco confirmed lineup for the FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Brazil:

Morocco (4-2-3-1): Yassine Bounou; Achraf Hakimi (c), Issa Diop, Chadi Riad, Noussair Mazraoui; Neil El Aynaoui, Ayyoub Bouaddi; Brahim Diaz, Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss; Ismael Saibari.
Substitutes: Munir Mohamedi (gk), Ahmed Tagnaouti (gk), Ayoube Amaimouni, Sofyan Amrabat, Youssef Belammari, Ayoub El Kaabi, Samir El Mourabet, Zakaria El Ouahdi, Redouane Halhal, Soufiane Rahimi, Marwane Saadane, Anass Salah-Eddine, Amine Sbai, Chemsdine Talbi, Gessime Yassine.
Thoughts on the lineup
Yassine ‘Bono’ Bounou has been one of the best goalkeepers to come out of the continent and starts between the sticks for the Moroccan national team. In front of him are the centre-back pairing of Fulham defender Issa Diop and Crystal Palace youngster Chadi Riad.
Achraf Hakimi, who won the African Player of the Year award last year, starts at right-back. Noussair Mazraoui starts at left-back, having recovered from the shoulder issue that saw him come off in the friendly against Norway.
Roma’s Neil El Aynaoui will shield the defence along with Bouaddi, whom Ouahbi has opted for over the more experienced Sofyan Amrabat. Azzedine Ounahi starts behind the lone striker, Ismael Saibari. Brahim Diaz starts on the right flank, with Bilal El Khannouss starting on the other wing.
