The 2024 transfer window has seen many big clubs splash huge amounts of money to bolster their ranks. Many signings have cost a good amount of money in this transfer window.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 most expensive transfers in the 2024 summer window.

10. Joao Palhinha (Fulham to Bayern Munich) – £43 million plus add-ons

The Portuguese midfielder has been the centre of attention for many clubs during this window. This is surely because Joao Palhinha is one of the best defensive midfielders in European football. Palhinha is an absolute ball-winning midfielder.

He plays like a traditional defensive midfielder and shields the back four very well. Bayern Munich have acquired him for just £43 million which is quite cheap considering how good Joao Palhinha is.

9. Micheal Olise (Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich) – £45 million plus £5 million add-ons

Micheal Olise lit up the Premier League whilst at Crystal Palace. Olise is a very talented winger who is good at dribbling and shooting. He has all the capabilities to be a good winger.

Bayern Munich’s manager Vincent Kompany certainly has an eye for talent. With rumours of Kingsley Coman leaving, it certainly made sense for Bayern Munich to sign a young talented winger like Micheal Olise.

8. Dani Olmo (RB Leipzig to FC Barcelona) – £47 million plus £6 million add-ons

FC Barcelona have had persistent issues with signing and registering players due to financial fair play. However, in such a difficult time, they have succeeded in signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. Initially, Barcelona were looking to sign Nico Williams but failed to do so.

Dani Olmo on the other hand is as good of a player as Nico Williams if not better. Olmo had initially spent his playing time at Barcelona for their youth team in his early career days.

7. Moussa Diaby (Aston Villa to Al-Ittihad) – £50 million

Moussa Diaby has had a great career, spending his time at PSG’s youth ranks and then breaking into PSG’s first team. He then went on to join Bayer Leverkusen and then spent a season at Aston Villa. At just 25 years of age, the French winger chose to join Saudi club Al-Ittihad. Diaby did not get much playing time at Aston Villa due to Leon Bailey’s resurgence.

6. Amadou Onana (Everton to Aston Villa) – £50 million

Aston Villa beat Bayern Munich and Arsenal in signing Amadou Onana. Bayern Munich and Arsenal were rumoured to sign the midfielder however Aston Villa broke their transfer record to sign Onana. This signing came at a great time for Aston Villa since Douglas Luiz joined Juventus.

Amadou Onana can fill in Douglas Luiz’s position and role in the team to help Aston Villa reach new heights for the 2024-2025 campaign.

5. Joao Neves (Benfica to PSG) – £50 million plus £10 million add-ons

Portugal are blooming at the moment with many talented players rising from the country. Joao Neves is one of the most talented prospects in football right now. The 19-year-old Portuguese midfielder broke into Benfica’s first team in January.

Since then he went on to make a staggering 75 appearances for Benfica across all competitions. Paris Saint Germain on the other hand are well known for signing talented prospects and will certainly benefit from signing Joao Neves.

4. Pedro Neto (Wolves to Chelsea) – £51.4 million plus £2.6 million add-ons

Pedro Neto has had a very emotional departure, parting with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite being an emotional departure, this is the right move for Neto. A big club like Chelsea can help take his career to the next level.

Pedro Neto has had many injuries over the years which has hampered his career’s growth. Nonetheless, a versatile winger of his calibre who is very direct and has fast feet can improve quickly. He is one of numerous signings for Chelsea and definitely has the potential to stand out amongst them.

3. Lenny Yoro (Lille to Manchester United) – £52.2 million plus £7 million add-ons

Real Madrid almost signed Lenny Yoro however Manchester United swooped in and signed him. INEOS, new owners of Manchester United have made excellent signings for the club. Lenny Yoro was Lille’s reliable wall in defence last season.

His resolute performances in Ligue 1 last season including appearances, playing time, successful interceptions and tackles showed how good he is. Despite getting an injury in pre-season which has ruled him out for quite some time, Lenny Yoro is a player to look forward to.

2. Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth to Tottenham Hotspurs) – £55 million plus £10 million add-ons

Tanguy N’dombele used to be Tottenham’s record signing back in 2019. Tottenham Hotspurs have now broken their transfer record once again, this time to acquire the services of Dominic Solanke. Solanke has proved himself to be worthy of the big clubs after a splendid season with Bournemouth in the Premier League. Dominic Solanke scored 21 goals across all competitions for Bournemouth out of which 19 were in the league.

1. Julian Alvarez (Manchester City to Atletico Madrid) – £82 million plus add-ons

The Argentinian has gained recognition for “completing football” which implies winning every trophy for which his team has contended. Julian Alvarez has won numerous trophies out of which the big ones include the Premier League title, UEFA Champions League title and the prestigious FIFA World Cup trophy. Despite being a striker of great calibre, he was Erling’s Haaland back-up at Manchester City.

He would not start often but still, managed to deliver great performances and statistical contributions for Manchester City. Atletico Madrid broke their transfer record by signing Julian Alvarez to help themselves in the 2024-25 campaign.
