Top nine most promising Ghanaian youngsters in football currently
Bright young players are a source of encouragement for any football team.
The same is happening for Ghana. They now have a number of bright U-21 players ready to make their mark in a few years or maybe even early. Ghana football team made their first appearance in the FIFA World Cup in 2006.
They have also managed to secure the Africa Cup of Nations four times and also have been runners-up of the competition five times. In this article, we talk about the top nine promising Under 21 Ghanaian players currently who can go on to become a mainstay of the team in the upcoming years.
9. Emmanuel Essiam (20y, CM) FC Basel
Emmanuel Essiam features at number nine on this list. He currently features in the Swiss team Stade Lausanne Ouchy and is serving his loan tenure from FC Basel. He was involved in the team for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. He was also part of a friendly against the Japan U-23 team.
8. Lawrence Agyekum (20y, CM) RB Salzburg
He is a midfielder who currently features for the Austrian side Liefering. He is serving his loan period from RB Salzburg. He has a contract with Salzburg till June 30, 2026.
7. Felix Afena-Gyan (21y, CF) US Cremonese
Felix Afena-Gyan plays as a centre-forward for the Serie B club Cremonese. The club signed him on a permanent contract on 29th August 2022. He got his first call-up to the international team on 4 November 2021.
However, he refused the call-up from the Ghana national team for the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa. He stated that it was premature for him and he wanted to keep improving.

Ibrahim Sulemana plays in the defensive midfield role for the Italian club Atalanta BC. He kicked off his career with the club Verona. Previously he was with Cagliari since 1st July 2023. So far he has made one Serie A appearance for his new club.
5. Amankwah Forson (21y, CM) RB Salzburg
Amankwah Forson plays for the Austrian Bundesliga club Red Bull Salzburg. He features in the right-wing spot in his present club. Forson has scored 12 goals in 105 appearances so far.
4. Christopher Bonsu Baah (19y, RB) KRC Genk
Christopher Bonsu Baah is part of the Belgian side Genk currently. On July 6, 2023, he signed a four-year deal with the club. He has scored two goals and assisted twice in 52 appearances for the club so far.
3. Ibrahim Osman (19y, LW) Brighton
Ibrahim Osman plays as a winger for the Dutch club Feyenoord. However, he is set to join Brighton in 2025 after his loan stint is over. He had signed a four-year contract with Premier League club, Brighton & Hove Albion. He has also featured in two games for the international side.
2. Ernest Nuamah (20y, RW) Olympique Lyon
Ernest Nuamah plays as a winger for the French club Lyon. Previously, before moving in permanently this summer he was serving his loan tenure from Belgian Pro League club RWD Molenbeek. He has featured in 12 games for the international side and scored three goals so far. Altogether, he has played 35 games for Lyon scoring three goals and providing two assists.
1. Issahaku Fatawu (20y, RW) Leicester City
Issahaku Fatawu plays as a winger for the English club Leicester City. He was serving his loan period from Sporting CP for the 2023-24 season before moving in permanently. He has played 19 games so far for Ghana and has scored two goals.
