The Red Devils have bounced back despite a poor start to the new season.

Amid the club’s recent good form under Ruben Amorim, former Manchester United star Nani has called on fellow legends Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo to publicly support the team.

The four-time Premier League champion stated that the Red Devils “need the support” of its biggest personalities as they continue their comeback after a rough start to the 2025–26 season.

The Red Devils’ 2024–25 season was a nightmare, characterised by inconsistent play and unstable management. Amorim, who took Erik ten Hag’s place halfway through the season, had a hard time at first keeping the ship afloat as the team suffered crushing losses in the league.

But despite a dismal start to the current campaign, Amorim’s strategy has begun to work, and United’s revitalised attack has moved them up the table, reviving hope at Old Trafford.

Nani asks Ronaldo and Rooney to be vocal about Man Utd

Nani emphasised the significance of club icons supporting United in an exclusive interview with Covers.com:

“Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney continue to be very important figures for Man Utd. They still inspire players at the club and the club needs the support at the moment.

“Having players like those two in the future will be very difficult, but it’s great whenever they are asked about the club and they give their advice and their support.

“We all need to encourage the players, the manager and the fans to continue to believe we can turn everything around and be the club everyone used to see in the past.”

Supporters have been reminded of the old United spirit by the team’s renewed unity and urgent focus. The Red Devils’ front line has been completely changed by their striking trio of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, while skipper Bruno Fernandes is still leading by example.

Nani’s remarks are indicative of a larger belief that if United are to regain their past greatness, unity is necessary both on and off the field.

Where do United stand in the Premier League table?

They are fifth in the table right now.

Why Nani want Ronaldo and Rooney to support United publicly?

He feels both the former Man Utd stae still inspire players at the club, and the club needs support.
