Napoli join other European clubs in race for Manchester United's Mason Greenwood

Napoli are expected to compete with Juventus and Atletico Madrid for Mason Greenwood, who is a Manchester United player, in the highly competitive transfer market.
Leading European teams are keeping an eye on the one-cap England international after he had a successful loan spell with Getafe in 2023–2024. This season, he has eight goals and six assists in La Liga. He additionally found the net a few times in the Copa del Rey.
While Serie A powerhouse Juventus is considering the idea of enticing Greenwood to Italy, there have been reports that Atletico and Barcelona are hoping to keep him in Spanish football. But they are not the only group in that region of the world preparing plans of that kind.
As they get ready to bolster their attacking lineup, Napoli are reportedly considering making a bid for Greenwood, according to Corriere dello Sport. They like the 22-year-old’s versatility because he can play down the centre or on either wing.

Getafe’s dreams of arranging another loan arrangement are expected to be dashed when United approves a permanent deal this summer. However, it is unclear where Greenwood is going to end up and what his price request is, as growing interest drives that number ever higher.
If United doesn’t get a good offer, they might even consider reintegrating the 22-year-old, but they won’t consider any more loan requests.
Remarkably, Corriere Dello Sport now reports that Greenwood may be acquired by Napoli, the Serie A winners from the 2022-23 season.
Because of his versatility in terms of positions and footwork, the England international is the kind of flexible attacker that Napoli is looking for. The youthful player has played forward on his own this season in addition to playing on the left and right wings.
In order to preserve Greenwood’s market worth, United may choose to exercise its one-year extension option before his current contract with the team expires in 2025.
