Who will captain Netherlands at FIFA World Cup 2026?

The Oranje will take on Algeria and Uzbekistan in friendlies ahead of the mega competition.

The Netherlands national football team have now confirmed the final list of players for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, taking place in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Ronald Koeman’s men will now be gearing up for the biggest stage of football. They are placed in Group F along with the likes of Japan, Tunisia and Sweden. The Orange are not going to have the easiest of games, but are most likely to get past the group stage because of the quality players in their squad.

The Netherlands are going to control the ball well in the midfield with names like Frenkie de Jong, Ryan Gravenberch, Tijjani Reijnders and Justin Kluivert in the lineup. They will help the squad build some strong control, which will be essential for them in the final third.

Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo, Brian Brobbey and Donyell Malen are going to be the prominent names in the attacking front. They have a good depth up front. Virgil van Dijk, along with Jan Paul van Hecke, Denzel Dumfries, Nathan Aké and Jurriën Timber, are some important names who are going to make up their defensive wall.

Ronald Koeman has gone with names like Bart Verbruggen, Mark Flekken and Robin Roefs to secure the goal.

Who will be the Netherlands’ captain?

The star Liverpool centre-back, Virgil van Dijk, is going to be the captain for the Netherlands national football team. He has been rocking the captain’s armband for quite a while now.

The 34-year-old has been involved in 90 matches for the Oranje. His presence on the field is going to play an important role for them. Van Dijk is still going to play an important role in the defensive back.

He has scored 12 goals for his national team till now. Before heading to the FIFA World Cup 2026, the Ronald Koman-led side are going to compete in two friendlies. They will first face Algeria on June 3 and then go on to battle it out against Uzbekistan on June 8.
