Netherlands vs England Live score and updates | UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final
11:30 PM: Hello everyone and welcome to Khel Now’s LIVE COVERAGE of the UEFA Euro 2024 semi-final match between Netherlands vs England. The kick-off is just a few hours away! I am your host Waseem and will keep you company through what promises a fascinating night of football. Please wait for 30 seconds for the Live blog to load.
The star-studded England side will face a formidable opponent in the Netherlands, who will look to replicate their 1988 Euros success and reach their second final after a long wait of 36 years. The second semi-final of Euro 2024 is set to be a mouth-watering clash, with both sides equally favoured to reach the finals.
Gareth Southgate’s men have not exhibited a dominating brand of football despite having world-class superstars in their starting eleven and reserves. After narrowly winning the match against Serbia and settling for draws against Denmark and Slovenia, England somehow managed to top their group.
In both their knockout games against Slovakia and Switzerland, they conceded first and were lucky enough to equalize before the final whistle. Gareth Southgate will hope that his side displays an all-round footballing performance to get the better of the Oranje and propel England to the finals of Euro 2024.
Holland gaffer, Ronald Koeman asserted, “It will be a great night on Wednesday between two big nations – a historic night.” The Netherlands, placed in a tough group alongside Austria, France, and Poland, managed to progress to the Round of 16 by virtue of being one of the best third-placed teams. Oranje thrashed table-toppers Romania 3-0 in the Round of 16 before overcoming Turkey in the Quarterfinals to secure their semi-final berth against the Three Lions in Dortmund.
Players to Watch:
Cody Gakpo (Netherlands)
The 25-year-old Dutch wonder kid, Cody Gakpo, is one of the frontrunners to win the Golden Boot after netting three goals and providing one assist in five matches to propel the Oranje to the semi-finals. Gakpo, who has registered 13 shots and created 11 chances, will be a lethal attacking force for Ronald Koeman’s side alongside Memphis Depay and Wout Weghorst.
He will look forward to getting the better of the English defence and taking his side to the finals of Euro 2024.
Bukayo Saka (England)
The Arsenal poster boy’s goal in the 80th minute saved England from a quarter-final exit against Switzerland in their previous fixture. Bukayo Saka has been in red-hot form since the beginning of 2024 for both his club and country. The 22-year-old, after an awful penalty miss in the finals of Euro 2020, announced his redemption by finding the back of the net from the penalty spot to propel England to the semi-finals of Euro 2024.
Saka is a big-match player and has repeatedly shown his heroics when it mattered the most. Keep a close eye on him on Wednesday as his performance might heavily determine if Gareth Southgate’s men reach their second consecutive Euro finals.
