The Oranje are seeking their first win in the World Cup against the high-flying Blagult.
Netherlands and Sweden will face off in a feisty Group F clash in the FIFA World Cup 2026 at NRG Stadium in Houston on June 20. The Blagult sit at the top of the group after Matchday 1, while the Netherlands are in third place after a draw against Japan.
Sweden made the perfect start to their World Cup campaign with a 5-1 thrashing of Tunisia in their opener. Graham Potter’s men, who booked their place in the expanded 48-team tournament despite not having won a single match in their qualifying campaign, dispelled any doubts about their quality with a brilliant attacking display.
Alexander Isak returned from injury with aplomb, being involved in three goals. This was a Swedish record for 24 years. The Liverpool man will once again lead the line for the Blagult alongside Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Netherlands, for their part, were held to a 2-2 stalemate by Japan. The Oranje led twice in the match, with Virgil van Dijk and Crysencio Summerville scoring in the second half. However, poor defending meant that they conceded quickly, with Keito Nakamura and Daichi Kamada equalising.
