They followed that up with a disappointing display against Egypt as they lost that game 3-1. New Zealand are currently placed at the bottom of Group G.

Belgium, on the other hand are underperforming in yet another international tournament. They have accumulated only two points from their opening two games. Belgium’s opening fixture was against Egypt, which they drew 1-1. Their second round opponent was Iran, who held Belgium to a 0-0 draw. Considering the firepower they have, Belgium should have scored more than one goal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup so far.

Another eye-catching encounter from the flanks is between Tim Payne and Leandro Trossard. Tim Payne assisted New Zealand’s only goal against Egypt.
