Ancelotti could give Neymar a shot in the March international break.

With less than 100 days until the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Neymar has once again become the subject of controversy among Brazilian supporters over whether he will be included in the team.

According to sources, Carlo Ancelotti is seriously considering bringing Neymar back to the Seleção for the March international window after Rodrygo sustained a major injury.

When Real Madrid revealed on Tuesday that Rodrygo had a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and lateral meniscus in his right knee, Brazil was dealt a serious setback. The forward will miss nearly all of 2026 due to the severity of the injury, unless he recovers miraculously.

According to UOL Esporte, Ancelotti is seriously considering summoning up Neymar for the forthcoming March games as one of his usual players is currently out.

The Santos forward was not in the Italian coach’s plans for the matches against France on March 26 and Croatia on March 31, according to ESPN Brasil. But Rodrygo’s injury has apparently caused a reconsideration.

In addition to Rodrygo, the case for Neymar’s recall might be strengthened by another possible absence. Estevao, the highest scorer of the Ancelotti era with five goals, has already missed Chelsea’s previous three Premier League games due to a hamstring injury. If he is unable to recover in time, Neymar will have even more ground to make a comeback.

Neymar has made positive progress in terms of his health since coming back from arthroscopic surgery to treat a meniscus problem. He has played in Santos’ last three games, playing the entire ninety minutes in the last two. Nevertheless, there is a very small window of opportunity to impress Ancelotti before the final team announcement.

When was the last time Neymar played for Brazil?

He last played for Brazil in 2023.

Which injury has Rodryo suffered?

He has sustained an ACL injury and torn his lateral meniscus.

How long will Rodryo be out?

He is expected to be out for the entire 2026.
