The Brazilian avoided a major injury in the match.
After his most recent outing for Santos, Neymar was not impressed with the artificial pitch that opponents Atletico Mineiro were using.
The Brazilian international has previously voiced his opposition to artificial turf. He says he has provided more evidence that synthetic fields are “sh*t” after sustaining another injury that required him to play through the discomfort.
The 33-year-old is hesitant to play on artificial surfaces since he has experienced a number of joint and muscular issues over the years. Lionel Messi, his former teammate from FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, frequently takes a similar stand.
Having been forced into a relegation fight, Santos do, however, need their lucky captain to play in as many games as possible right now. At Arena MRV, Neymar managed to play a significant role in a 1-1 draw with Atletico Mineiro.
Less than a minute had passed when he rotated his ankle without facing a challenge from an opponent. Neymar was deemed fit enough to continue after receiving treatment on the field.

After being made to take needless chances with his fitness, the 33-year-old took to social media to post: “Proven… Synthetic is sh*t!”
Given that Santos were aware of the issues with artificial surfaces, Neymar’s selection was viewed as dubious before the match. Nonetheless, he is trying to gain experience in an effort to play for Brazil in the 2026 World Cup.
