Neymar to be included in Brazil's preliminary World Cup squad: Report

The Brazilian is hoping to make Selecao’s World Cup squad.
Neymar will be included in Brazil’s World Cup preliminary 55-player squad, according to Journalist Diogo Dantas of the O Globo newspaper.
However, so far, the Brazilian’s prospects of making the World Cup squads have been uncertain. Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated that Neymar will have to be fit enough to be included in the squad.
The 55 names will be submitted by head coach Carlo Ancelotti on Monday, May 11. The following Monday, the 18th, will see the final squad announcement by the head coach as he prepares the national team to lead them in the World Cup.
Could it be the last chance for Neymar to fight for a spot ahead of the World Cup?
Since October 2023, Neymar has not represented Brazil after suffering a knee injury in a match, which appeared to be his last time out with the national team.
Now the player is putting everything in the games to convince Ancelotti that he merits the call-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which could be his last one.
This season, Neymar scored five goals and provided three assists in 12 games for Santos. He might have to do more to show why he remains a difference maker in that Selecao squad.
The star has been rested for a few games this season as Santos have kept tabs on the players’ playing minutes to aid the player in avoiding any injuries.
Neymar also got into a brawl with Robinho Jr. during practice, which added to the arguments made by those opposed to the forward’s call-up.
For the time being, it remains to be seen. Ancelotti will start preparing for the final World Cup squad that will be given the responsibility of taking charge of the national team in the competition.
