Neymar said: “Arda Guler is an incredible player and he has a lot of quality. He’s the best midfielder in the world.”
Guler was performing as one of the world’s top midfielders at the beginning of the season. He hasn’t been able to perform at that level lately. Moreover, in recent weeks, he hasn’t been in the starting lineup. Xabi Alonso is now employing Eduardo Camavinga in his midfield trio with Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham.
Alonso’s presence has improved Guler’s situation after it was predicted that he would depart Real Madrid last summer. But his decline in popularity over the past several weeks has raised additional concerns about his future. This is particularly since teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have expressed interest in a potential 2026 transfer.
Alonso and Real Madrid still hold Guler in high regard, even though he is not being heavily relied upon. He has a long way to go before he can consistently compete for the best midfielder title against players like Pedri, Jude Bellingham, and Vitinha. But he undoubtedly has the potential to become one of the greatest midfielders in the world.
