The forward won’t be called up to the Brazil squad.
Another setback will prevent Brazil’s sensation Neymar Jr from playing for his country in the forthcoming World Cup 2026 qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia.
During Saturday’s training, the Santos forward experienced pain in his thigh, which led to medical examinations that showed a severe, swollen muscle strain.
Santos informed the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) of the injury and started treatment right away.
The 33-year-old hasn’t played for Brazil since a 2-0 loss to Uruguay on October 18, 2023. Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of the national team, had voiced persistent reservations about Santos’ star fitness despite recent optimism stoked by seven straight 90-minute performances.
The most recent injury validates such worries and eliminates his possibility of getting called up for the September games.
When will Neymar return from recent injury blow?

He is anticipated to return to the club’s training camp by August 31st, with a possible return to full training within a week.
He might be available for club games in early September as a result, but he will most likely miss the international window because of the recent injury setback.
Neymar, who was once the Selecao’s lucky charm, now has a difficult time getting back into the starting lineup for a team that Ancelotti is revamping.
This latest setback adds another chapter to his career, which has been characterised by brilliant moments interspersed with ailments in recent years.
The Brazilian had already had a rough week before his injury after losing to Vasco 6-0 and sobbing as he left the field.
It was believed that the player would finally return to the national team squad after starring in seven matches in a row, but now the fresh blow has once again ruled him out of the national team squad.
Which new injury has Neymar suffered?
He has suffered muscle strain in his thigh.
Has he been ruled out for Brazil’s September games?
Yes, as per reports, he won’t be called up to the squad.
How long will he be out?
It is unclear how long he will be sidelined before making a comeback.
