Nico Williams says 'yes' to join Barcelona: Report

The Spanish club have been pushing for Williams’ signature for the past few weeks.
As per the reports in Spain, Nico Williams has reportedly said ‘yes’ to joining Barcelona. The Spanish club feel the deal can be completed within the next week.
The story of Nico Williams is still very much ongoing. Barcelona are not giving up just yet. According to the report, Barcelona spoke with Williams’s team yesterday about the possibility of the winger moving to Catalonia.
In reality, it seems that Barça have brought back the story of Nico Williams in the hopes that the forward would decide at the last minute to sign with the Catalan giants.
Since Nico Williams has not yet given his final opinion on the move, there is still hope in the Barcelona camp. In order to both create new revenue and reduce the pay bill, they may need to approve more exits.
If Barca still doesn’t have their new winger by the match against Athletic Bilbao, whose player Williams is, on 24 August, they’ll start looking at other options before the August 30 transfer deadline.
Even though Barcelona have experienced financial difficulties recently, the team feels strong enough to exercise Williams’ €60 million release clause. The winger has not indicated if he would accept Barca’s offer, but he is already informed of the wages that are being offered.
To take on Real Madrid for LaLiga, club president Joan Laporta hopes to add Williams to a frontline that already includes Euro 2024 co-stars Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo.
Kylian Mbappe’s arrival this summer has bolstered their opponents from the Spanish capital. Even Endrick has at last completed his long-awaited transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.
In the case of Nico Williams, it’s not fully confirmed. Since the start of the summer transfer window, the club have been pushing for the signing of Williams. They were convinced that the forward would agree to join the team last week. But his failure to make a decision indicated that Barcelona might have to look for other options.
But now that is not the case. The club feel they are ever closer to securing the signing of Williams. Barcelona feel it can be completed by next week.
