The Super Eagles will start their AFCON 2025 quest on 23 December.
Nigeria’s 54-man preliminary team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Morocco, has been revealed.
The Super Eagles would be hoping to atone for their FIFA World Cup defeat by winning a fourth African championship.
In order to accomplish this, Fulham’s three players—Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze—as well as Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen and captain William Troost-Ekong have been called up by coach Eric Chelle.
Former Leicester City standout Kelechi Iheanacho, Cyriel Dessers, Paul Onuachu, and Igoh Ogbu, a player for Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, are returning to the team.
The Super Eagles were the runners-up in the last tournament held in Cote d’Ivoire, must manoeuvre their way through the one-time African champions, Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania in Group C.
On December 23, Chelle’s team will play Taifa Stars at Fez Stadium in Fez to start their pursuit of a fourth African championship.
