Nigeria announce squad for 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho & Benin; Victor Osimhen included

The Super Eagles will play their last two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October.
Victor Osimhen will spearhead Nigeria’s assault in their last two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games.
The Super Eagles’ manager, Eric Chelle, has included 23 players, among them is Galatasaray’s promising striker Victor Osimhen. He was injured and missed Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with South Africa.
The team’s captain and vice-captain, Wilfred Ndidi and William Ekong, will be among the well-known call-ups joining Osimhen.
Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Tolu Arokodare, Moses Simon, and Benjamin Fredricks, the rapidly developing central defender, are among the other noteworthy callups.
After missing two games due to injury, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi rejoins the squad, while Terem Moffi is also named in the roster. Additionally, Chelle made an unexpected inclusion of Olakunle Olusegun and Akor Adams.
Before a crucial matchup with neighbours Benin in Uyo on October 14, the Super Eagles will play Lesotho in South Africa.
With 11 points from eight games, Nigeria are now in third place in Group C of the CAF qualifiers. They are three points behind leaders Benin and South Africa, who were recently docked three points for playing an unregistered player.
