The Lions will face Slovenia and Austria in Nations League games.

Arsenal captain and midfielder Martin Odegaard has not been called up for Norway’s Nations League games later this month.

Odegaard has not played since suffering a left ankle injury during Norway’s 2-1 victory against Austria last month.

National team coach Stale Solbakken stated that the 25-year-old was “a long way” from being considered for inclusion in a news release announcing the squad.

“The fact that both Oscar (Bobb) and Martin are out at the same time — it would be naive to say that it doesn’t have an impact,” Solbakken said. He further added, “Martin is very important to the group and he has been among the best in every single match in recent years.”

Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, stated last Tuesday that it would probably be “a matter of weeks” before his captain could make a comeback.

“No (new time frame), but I think it will be a matter of weeks,” he said. “How long exactly, I cannot tell you. We might get a surprise (before the international break) but I think it’s unlikely.”

Norway will meet Slovenia and Austria in Nations League B Group 3. They will host Slovenia before visiting Austria on 13 October.

With the absence of former Real Madrid midfielder, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will captain Norway for this October international games.
