Nketiah joining Forest will make him the highest earner at the club.

Nottingham Forest are progressing in their signing of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah. Forest have accepted the player’s wage demand. The striker will be the highest earner at the Premier League club once the deal is completed.

It appeared that Forest might move on from the 25-year-old, but there have been breakthroughs in talks with Arsenal. Now they are closing in on Eddie Nketiah. Nketiah will reportedly cost them a £30 million sum for signing him from the Gunners.

Forest were looking to sign a striker. They had identified Nketiah as their top target for this summer. However, there have been complications with the player due to his salary and contract at Emirates. There are still some issues to sort out before the deal can happen.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has held extensive talks with Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s sporting director. It is confirmed that the deal is nearing an agreement between both clubs.

Another option Forest had was Santiago Gimenez. But his £38 million price tag was proving to be a challenge for the Premier League club to meet.

Meanwhile, the Arsenal centre-forward will be a wise signing for them, having proven his mettle on many occasions despite not being the preferred player under Mikel Arteta.

The 25-year-old should not take much time to feel at home at Forest. However, this is not the first time Forest have targeted Nketiah. They first approached Arsenal for the player in 2021 when he returned to the Emirates after being on loan at Leeds United. That time, the Gunners decided to keep him.

Nuno Espirito Santo has been looking to reinforce his attacking options and provide some competition to Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Once the deal is through, the 25-year-old will finally part ways with his childhood club, where he spent nine years. He joined the club’s academy in 2015 and made his debut two years later under former manager Arsene Wenger.
