PSG star Nuno Mendes reveals his football idols

The left-back recently won the treble with Paris Saint-Germain.
Nuno Mendes listed his favourite players when asked which football stars motivate him to become the best of himself.
The left-back enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career the previous campaign as he was a key player in Paris Saint-Germainâs quest to win the maiden UEFA Champions League last season (2024-25) and treble as well.
The full-back further enjoyed more silverware when he played a crucial role in aiding Portugal lift the UEFA Nations League, beating Spain in the final.
The 23-year-old not only demonstrated a brilliant performance but also influenced the game, and heaped praise on his efforts for the club and the national team.
Maybe his performance could have also been influenced by the players he looked up to, as in a recent interview, the full-back revealed his idols.
Nuno Mendes names Marcelo and David Alaba as his idols
The PSG player was asked about his idols, and without even thinking twice, he named the former Brazilian full-back and David Alaba as his inspirations.
âMy Idols? Marcelo and David Alabaâ
Well, both Alaba and Marcelo have been the best full-backs modern football has seen. The Brazilian, during his prime years at Real Madrid, was one of the greatest left-backs the sport has ever witnessed.
From flawless crossing to defensive work rate, Marcelo had every aspect and won three consecutive Champions Leagues with them. Meanwhile, Alaba enjoyed most of his heyday during his time at Bayern Munich before he joined Los Blancos.
However, his time at Los Blancos wasnât all fruitful as he suffered constant injuries despite winning the Champions League. In the middle of the last campaign, the Austrian picked up an ACL injury that kept him out of action.
Given that he still has many years remaining in his playing career, Nuno Mendes, who is in his early 20s, will want to emulate either of their careers and become one of the best left-backs.
