The Eagles secured their first league win against Aston Villa but lost two players to injury.

Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace rallied to their first win of the season when they beat Aston Villa 3-0 at Villa Park, with goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta, Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr getting the job done.

Following the departure of their star player, Eberechi Eze, Glasner lost a quality player who was instrumental in the club’s attack and was a major contributor.

However, their win against the Villans was a signal about how the team has evolved, and that players gave collective effort to carry the team to a win.

Two blows, along with a win

Despite their victory, the club have been hit with a big blow as they have lost two crucial players to injuries. Following the game, manager Oliver Glasner gave an update on the injuries of Adam Wharton and Ismaïla Sarr.

During the post-match press conference, he told the media:

“Muscle injuries, so the players are not used to playing this rhythm. Maybe I need to rotate a bit more. The games are so competitive, and they played most of the minutes.

“I think these things can happen. We will have the scan tomorrow and get the results. We always want to avoid muscle injuries. But, again, it is what it is.”

Palace will next play Sunderland

This is a double injury setback for Palace, who seem to have now gotten into their groove. Wharton, who has been crucial on Glasner’s side, has brought control in the midfield.

Moreover, it will also be a big blow for Adam Wharton, who will now miss England‘s September games after he was called up by Thomas Tuchel.

Meanwhile, Sarr, who joined the club last season, will be another absentee due to injury. Given that we are now heading into the international break, the fans will hope that both stars will return to the action once club football resumes.

Palace will next return to action against Sunderland on 13th September, hoping that both stars are fit to play again.

What did Glasner say about Wharton and Sarr’s injuries?

Both have suffered muscle injuries.

How long does it take to recover from muscle injuries?

Depends mainly on the severity of the injury.

When will Palace be next back in action?

On 13th September against Sunderland.
