Ronaldo left the club as the highest scorer in their history.
On this day, 16 years ago, Real Madrid announced the signing of one of the greatest players, Cristiano Ronaldo. It was a historic acquisition for Madrid, and what he achieved will remain in the memories of the fans and the club forever.
It was a signing to remember for the club, as during his unveiling at Bernabeu, the entire stadium was filled as the fans were hoping for a glimpse of their then record signing.
During that time, it was the most expensive signing in transfer history at that time and still remains quite high up on the list to this day.
Cristiano Ronaldo set unprecedented standards at Bernabéu, Madrid
Ronaldo, who has already grown his status at Manchester United as one of the talented young players, moved to Real Madrid, where he further made history with the club.
It was a transfer where Cristiano Ronaldo established himself and cemented his legacy that not only made the Portuguese one of the greatest of all time but also saw him achieve an unprecedented success with the Spanish club.
He won four Champions League titles and four Ballon d’Or during his time at the club, and also scored the most goals in their history.
Ronaldo spent most of his prime years playing for Madrid before leaving them in 2018, which didn’t go well with the fans, as many assumed he would spend the remainder of his football career at the club before retiring.
Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus in a shocking transfer, and his reason for leaving Madrid still remains unknown as to why the player left the club where he achieved legendary status and scored the most goals. However, Ronaldo left with high regard, given that he won everything at Madrid.
