Former Chelsea star Oscar set to retire after heart issue: Report

The Brazilian player has been advised by his family to retire after passing out during a training session.
Oscar, a former Chelsea player, is scheduled to retire from football after his family and wife begged him to give up the sport due to heart abnormalities.
Due to a heart issue, the 34-year-old Brazilian passed out after a training session with Sao Paulo. He is now in critical care.
“I sincerely appreciate your prayers and messages. God willing, everything will be fine,” he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.
Oscar had been allowed to play football. He has been taking medication for a heart problem since August, but Tuesday’s health incident has made him reevaluate his future.
Oscar was told to retire from football after a recent heart issue
Oscar, who made £150 million during his successful time in China, is being emotionally encouraged to retire by his family, according to the Brazilian publication Globo. According to the same reports, he may have had a catheter implanted.
Although Oscar’s contract expires in 2027, Sao Paulo executives are willing to let him end it amicably if he wants to retire. The outlet was informed by a club insider that he is “99 per cent” likely to give up football.
Prioritising the 34-year-old’s health and well-being is crucial because he and his wife, Ludmila Emboaba, want to spend more time with their two children, Julia and Caio. Oscar and his family have everything they need. During his eight years in China, he made £400,000 a week.
After spending five years at Chelsea before moving to Shanghai Port for £60 million in 2017, the 34-year-old rejoined his childhood club in December of last year, yet he has only played 21 matches for them. Oscar last played for São Paulo against Corinthians in August, but after just 20 minutes, he broke a vertebra.
Oscar “presented an incident with cardiological changes” and was “promptly attended to by the club’s professionals and the medical team from Einstein Hospital Israelita” on the scene, according to a statement released by the club on Tuesday.
