As AS Monaco get ready to play Paris FC in Ligue 1 on Saturday night, Paul Pogba (32) has a good possibility of making his debut, according to a report from Foot Mercato. Since joining Les Monégasques on a free transfer, the France international midfielder has not yet made an appearance in a competitive game.

Moreover, since playing for his previous team, Juventus, against Empoli in Serie A in September 2023, Paul Pogba has not appeared in a professional football game. After being accused of doping, the Frenchman received a four-year football ban.

However, his ban was lowered to 18 months, allowing him to play for the Bianconeri once more. But before that could happen, the former Manchester United midfielder decided to mutually terminate his contract.

Although Paul Pogba’s inclusion in the squad on Saturday night would not ensure his debut, it would be a significant step in the right direction for the 32-year-old as he attempts to make a comeback. The 2018 World Cup winner will have to wait until November to play as he recovers his fitness, according to L’Équipe.

AS Monaco coach explains Paul Pogba’s current form

After joining Monaco as a free agent in June, the 32-year-old former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder is looking for a new beginning in Ligue 1. Coach Sébastien Pocognoli was excited about Pogba’s potential comeback, but he also asked for patience:

“So far, everything is going well. I hope he’ll be back in the squad soon. Once he is, we’ll assess his physical condition and see how he adapts to the match rhythm,” the coach explained.

Being realistic, the Belgian manager made it apparent that he does not anticipate seeing the same Pogba who used to dominate at the greatest level.

“The Paul from Manchester United or his first spell at Juventus belongs to another time. Every player evolves with age and experience. The key will be helping him rediscover his best self within our project,” the coach added.
