The England international has become out of favour at the club.

Ruben Amorim has been told by Manchester United legend Paul Scholes to “banish” Marcus Rashford, an exit-linked striker, from the locker room.

After the team’s victory over Fulham last weekend, the manager took a jibe at Rashford. Even the former England and United midfielder Scholes supported Ruben Amorim’s comments. The Portuguese coach questioned the striker’s efforts on the training field and stated that he would prefer to play United’s 63-year-old goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital over Rashford right now.

Scholes expressed his thoughts on Rashford’s predicament on The Overlap Fan Debate, where he said:  “I think Marcus has let a lot of people down really, with his attitude, and I think that’s what the manager is trying to say. You think of the young players coming through the team, think of (Alejandro) Garnacho, they’re looking up to people like Marcus now – he’s 27 years of age, and he’s clearly not training properly.

“OK, he’s not refusing to play, but in the way he’s behaving and the way he’s training, in a way he is saying I don’t want to be involved with these. So I think the fact of letting your team-mates down in that dressing room – he should be banished from the dressing room really. If he’s in and around that and young people are seeing that as an example, the sooner he’s gone the better.”

Due to his desire to take on a “new challenge” and the fact that he hasn’t played for the Red Devils since December 12, the 27-year-old forward is being heavily linked to leaving Old Trafford before the winter transfer window closes. Rashford may end up at Barcelona, as the LaLiga powerhouses are reportedly interested in signing him on loan.

Meanwhile, Rashford is probably going to miss out on playing time once more when Amorim’s team, who have defeated Rangers and Fulham in their last two games, takes on FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday.
