Barcelona star Pedri ruled out for a month with hamstring injury

The LaLiga club have been hit with a major blow.
After suffering a hamstring injury in the middle of the week, FC Barcelona have confirmed that star midfielder Pedri will be out for a month.
An hour into Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League match against Slavia Prague on Wednesday, Hansi Flick was horrified to see Pedri hobbling off. After the game, the German coach worried that seeing his best player limp away was “no good news.”
The loss of Barcelona’s midfield master will still be deeply felt, even though the game ended in a 4-2 triumph, including a stunning goal from Dani Olmo, who came off the bench.
Initially, it was believed that Pedri’s substitution was primarily preventative, but an official report from the club has taken the unconventional step of actually establishing a schedule. “The recovery time is expected to be one month,” Barça said in a succinct statement.
One of Flick’s biggest issues may be how Barcelona replace Pedri’s composure and control in midfield.
Who can replace Pedri at Barcelona?
Last season, Flick had little cause to think about any strategy sans Pedri. During a successful 2024–25 season, the little midfielder played in 59 of Barcelona’s 60 games in all competitions. This term, his fitness, which has previously been an issue, hasn’t quite held up.
Pedri has missed six games this season, which has led to four different solutions with varying degrees of success. Eric García has been moved forward from defence on half of these occasions. The former centre-back for Manchester City has natural defensive instincts and is at ease with the ball, although he lacks his countryman’s tempo control.
Flick is happy with his efforts, though.
The German manager grinned, “I think that at the level he’s playing and what he’s showing, he’s doing very well. He loves this club and is an important player in the dressing room.”
