City are set to bring new faces to the club in the summer window.

Assistant manager Juanma Lillo is among the three important members of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City backroom staff who are leaving the Spaniard in search of a coaching position.

Guardiola has not yet confirmed who will be in the dugout with him in the United States. Lillo, Inigo Dominguez, and Carlos Vicens are all departing City and won’t be with Guardiola at the FIFA Club World Cup.

After seven years at City, Vicens will assume his first management position at Braga, a Portuguese team, where he will succeed Carlos Carvalhal, the former head coach of Sheffield Wednesday.

After two stints with Guardiola, Lillo, whose contract expires this summer, stated he preferred to go back to his home country of Spain rather than staying in England.

Guardiola was so influenced by the 59-year-old that the Catalan joined Dorados Sinaloa, a Mexican team, to play for him.

In 2020, Guardiola also brought Lillo to City. He returned to the Etihad Stadium a year after leaving to manage Al Sadd in Qatar for two years. Before joining City, Dominguez, another Spaniard, worked with Lillo at Al Sadd and Qingdao Huanghai.

As Hugo Viana is scheduled to take over as sports director full-time this summer, the Portuguese official is working with Txiki Begiristain to plan out a new generation of Pep Guardiola’s team in an effort to get it back to contending at the top level.

After a challenging season at the Etihad Stadium, it is revealed that Guardiola is now spearheading an effort to find fresh perspectives and ideas to keep him challenged.

Although connections to one former player have been refuted twice, there is currently no indication of the kind of individuals Manchester City could look at to add to their first-team coaching staff to work with Pep Guardiola.
