Pep Guardiola provides Phil Foden & Rodri injury update ahead of Premier Legague 2024-25 Gameweek 4
Guardiola’s side will face Brentford in their fourth Premier League game of the season.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has provided an update on Phil Foden and Rodri’s injury situation and it’s a welcome boost for the Spanish manager.
Both the players have returned to training and might be available for the game against Brentford. Rodri is yet to play a Premier League game for City this season after playing for Spain during the Euro 2024 triumph, while Foden appeared in City’s opening game against Chelsea before sitting out against Ipswich and away victory at West Ham due to illness.
Due to this, the player couldn’t participate in England’s win in the UEFA Nations League game against the Republic of Ireland and Finland. However, Barcelona’s head coach has confirmed that the attacking midfielder is back in training have a chance of playing against the Bees.
Another boost for Guardiola is star player Rodri is back in training after missing out on the first three games of the new season due to a hamstring injury in the final in Berlin against Foden’s England.
But he was on the bench of City’s 3-1 win against West Ham United, and now Guardiola has confirmed that he is fully fit and should feature against Thomas Frank’s side.
“They’re good. They’re training. Really good.” Pep Guardiola said on both Foden and Rodri’s current injury situation.
Man City’s start to the new season has seen them get all three points in the league and are currently top of the table, now further addition of Foden and Rodri will be a key factor to continue their winning run.
Although it is still unclear whether the former Atletico Madrid star will play, Rodri’s involvement will be important for Guardiola because he is essential in making things happen throughout the match.
However, he did feature for Spain in the Nations League so we can expect him to come as a substitute, while Pep already has Ilkay Gundogan as a replacement who rejoined the club after a season at Barcelona.
