Pep Guardiola sends quit warning ahead of Manchester City vs Liverpool clash

The Spanish manager reveals he won’t remain at the helm if his side continues to lose.
Despite just signing a new contract, Pep Guardiola has threatened to leave Manchester City if their dismal performance persists.
With Manchester City losing their last six games, Guardiola is now going through the worst run of results in his entire managerial career. In what is quickly turning into a crisis, they have most lately lost to Tottenham 4-0 and thrown away a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord. Guardiola now threatens to leave if he is unable to turn the ship around.
Pep Guardiola said: “I don’t want to stay in the place if I feel like I’m a problem. I don’t want to stay here just because the contract is there.
“My chairman knows it. I said to him, ‘Give me the chance to try come back’, and especially when everybody comes back (from injury) and see what happens. After, if I’m not able to do it, we have to change because, of course, (the past) nine years are dead.
“More than ever I ask to my hierarchy, give me the chance. Will it be easy for me now? No. I have the feeling that still I have a job to do and I want to do it.”
The ex-Barcelona boss has previously reminded his players that they must not allow themselves to lose to Liverpool on Sunday if they’re going to win a fourth straight Premier League title, and feels loss might result if City only contending for Champions League qualification.
It’s unclear if he will fulfil the terms of the new contract he signed earlier this season, which runs through 2026. The defeats have been unusual in Pep Guardiola’s career who has only instilled a winning mindset in his coaching career.
On Sunday, Guardiola will be itching for his team to defeat the Premier League leaders led by Arne Slot. The Reds presently sit eight points clear of the defending champions.
