Pep Guardiola won't interfere in Rodri's wish to join Real Madrid

The Spanish midfielder hasn’t ruled out a move to Los Blancos.
Pep Guardiola has stated that Manchester City will not prevent Rodri from joining Real Madrid. Moreover, he will not ban a player for refusing to rule out a transfer to the Spanish powerhouses, as Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has done.
Enzo Fernández is missing Chelsea’s next two games (including Port Vale, which he already did), according to Rosenior. The coach stated on Friday that the midfielder “crossed a line” with remarks he made during the international break regarding a possible transfer to Santiago Bernabeu.
In a similar vein, Rodri responded that “you can’t rule out the best clubs in the world” when questioned about playing for Real Madrid in a Spanish interview.

“What Chelsea has done is Chelsea,” commented Pep Guardiola when questioned if Rodri will face a ban similar to that imposed on Fernández. “There is not one player that will turn down the chance to play for Madrid; he was born in Spain.”
“Always my wish is that Rodri could stay as long as possible in this club and because he’s an incredible, top player, but the life of everyone is everyone’s.”
“The organisation of the club is above all of us. If one player is not happy they have to leave. Continue the same always if they are happy, and I think he is happy.”
“If he is not happy just knock on the door of the sporting director, accept an offer according to his incredible quality and after that he doesn’t belong to the club — only himself.”
Over the summer, Rodri will enter the last year of his current contract with City, which is scheduled to end in 2027.
Guardiola maintains that negotiations are a top priority for the director of football, Hugo Viana, and City are eager to come to a new deal with the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.
Will Rodri join Madrid?
His recent comments suggest that he is open to joining the club. Additionally, Pep Guardiola will allow him to fulfill his desire.
