All players with 50-goal seasons in Europe since 2000 ft. Harry Kane & Lionel Messi

Harry Kane joins the greats like CR7, Messi and others.

Competing in any of the top five European leagues is a dream of every player from all around the world. Even though many players get a chance to feature, only a handful stand out. 50-plus goals a season are not easy for everyone.

Very few stars have achieved this feat since 2000, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi being the most consistent ones. They have set a benchmark for every other player who has a dream to win trophies and individual awards.

Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe, who is excellent in front of goal, has yet to record a 50-goal season. He has come close during his debut year with Los Blancos; the Frenchman found the net 43 times. Mbappe has scored 50+ goals in a calendar year four times, but has yet to achieve that mark in a single season.

The English striker Harry Kane is the newest addition to the list of stars with a 50-goal season. He is in a phenomenal run of form at the moment and will continue to play an important role for Bayern Munich on the attacking front.

When talking about dominating LaLiga, only Cristiano Ronaldo was good enough to stand toe-to-toe against Lionel Messi. As compared to the Argentine star, CR7 spent less amount of time in the Spanish top division before moving to Juventus in 2018.

The Portuguese talisman had a trophyless debut season with Real Madrid, and after that, he never backed down. For six consecutive seasons, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16, he scored 50+ goals and helped Los Blancos to numerous titles.

Including the famous UEFA Champions League threepeat under Zinedine Zidane in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Despite not having a 50-goal season in his last two campaigns, Ronaldo was consistent, scoring goals and leading Real Madrid to victories against the top European clubs.

Lionel Messi is considered one of the greatest players ever to play football. While playing for FC Barcelona, Messi peaked his game and had six sensational seasons (2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2014-15, 2016-17 and 2018-19). During the 2011-12 season, the Argentine great scored 73 goals across all competitions.

Leo Messi led the Blaugrana to multiple titles with his goal-scoring and playmaking skills. In 778 appearances for Barcelona, he made 975 contributions. These are some impressive numbers and are very hard to replicate.

Other than scoring, he was sensational with his playmaking skills as well.

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)

Robert Lewandowski performed exceptionally well during his time at Bayern Munich. When the German giants won their second-ever treble in 2019-20, the Polish striker scored 55 goals across all competitions. In the following season, he came close, but failed to reach the 50-goal mark.

During the 2021-22 season, which was also his final season with the Bavarians, he scored 50 goals in all competitions and also helped the club to their eighth successive league title.

Luis Suárez (FC Barcelona)

The Uruguayan striker caught the eye after his masterclass performances at Liverpool. After joining Barcelona in 2014, Luis Suarez improved a lot in his game as a forward. During the 2015-16 season, Suarez scored a total of 59 goals for the Blaugrana.

He won the European Golden Shoe and also ended the Pichichi award dominance of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Luis Suarez shone by putting the ball 40 times in the back of the net in LaLiga that season.

Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

The Norwegian forward had an incredible debut season with Man City. He won a treble (Premier League, FA Cup and the UCL) with the Cityzens during his first season. Erling Haaland found the back of the net 52 times in the same campaign, which also helped the club to secure three trophies during the 2022-23 season.

Haaland is the only Premier League player on the list. The 2022-23 campaign is also considered the best season by a centre-forward in the history of English Football.

Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)

He scored the 50th goal for the 2025-26 season during Bayern Munich’s 4-3 win against Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal. Harry Kane completed his 50 goals this season in just 42 appearances. Only Lionel Messi has managed to achieve the feat early (40 apps).

The English captain still has a decent number of games on his hands before the season ends. They have already secured the Bundesliga title, and it will be interesting to see Kane’s tally before this campaign wraps up.
