The Blaugrana are looking to make some big moves this summer.

FC Barcelona did well in their domestic tournaments. Even though they failed to secure a treble, the Blaugrana went on to clinch LaLiga and the Spanish Super Cup titles.

According to some recent reports, the Spanish giants are now looking to strengthen two key areas in the squad for the coming season. They are aiming to secure a deal for a high-quality centre-back and also a top striker to replace the Polish veteran Robert Lewandowski, who is set to leave this summer.

FC Barcelona have already signed Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon. This deal is worth a €70m fixed fee plus add-ons to bring the final package over €80m. It is going to be an important signing for the club as the English forward can play both as a winger and a striker.

In the last few years, the Blaugrana have been under strict financial restrictions. This has made things tougher for them as they are unable to register players and make expensive transfers. But the Catalan club is now back to La Liga’s crucial 1:1 spending rule. This situation will allow them to spend any amount of money they have earned from selling players and save the wages to buy new stars.

Julian Alvarez recently denied an extension to his contract with Atletico Madrid. His contract with the club runs till 2030. Some fresh reports suggest that FC Barcelona are already in contact with the Argentine striker and will soon come in with a bid. The deal will be over €100m and is not likely to include any other players. Alvarez can be the best possible option for Barca to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Alessandro Bastoni

Another key area in which the Catalan club are looking to invest is the defensive back. Alessandro Bastoni can be a top option. He can be a good choice as his characteristics are exactly what Hansi Flick is currently looking for. Despite controlling the back line well, the Inter Milan defender is also great at involving himself in the build-up play. The only thing that can be a problem is a hefty price tag.

Cristian Romero

The Tottenham Hotspur centre-back can be another option FC Barcelona can look at. Cristian Romero can be a cheaper option compared to Alessandro Bastoni. Even though he is not the strongest option in the market, the Argentine can play an important role for the Catalan club in strengthening the defensive wall.

Marcus Rashford

The Spanish giants are already very close to confirming the deal for Marcus Rashford. The Englishman recently completed his loan spell at FC Barcelona and has impressed Hansi Flick with his performances. The Blaugrana reportedly want to sign Rashford for around €30 million from Manchester United and it will be interesting to see how this saga proceeds.

Joao Pedro

If FC Barcelona fail to secure a deal for Julian Alvarez, Joao Pedro can be another option they can look into. The Brazilian forward performed really well for a struggling Chelsea this season. Some recent reports suggest that the Premier League club are not ready to sell Joao Pedro for any price. But it can become one of the hottest transfers this summer.
