Top seven players left out of Germany's FIFA World Cup 2026 final squad ft. Marc-André ter Stegen

Marc-André ter Stegen has been left out of the squad.
Germany had never failed to make it past the FIFA men’s World Cup group stages up until eight years ago.
The 2014 champions had a difficult time in the previous two competitions. Although they lost at EURO 2024 at home, Julian Nagelsmann has raised the bar for the team.
Manuel Neuer, the final active 2014 winner who had previously decided to retire from international duty following the Euros, will captain Germany when they go to North America. With a fresh look, this team has great potential and is ready to pursue the fifth star. But there are some notable missing players from the squad.
List of the top seven missing players from the Germany FIFA World Cup 2026 squad
| Rank | Player | Marc-André ter Stegen |
| 7 | Kevin Schade | Brentford |
| 6 | Noah Atubolu | Freiburg |
| 5 | Yann Aurel Bisseck | Inter Milan |
| 4 | Robert Andrich | Bayer Leverkusen |
| 3 | Niclas Füllkrug | AC Milan |
| 2 | Karim Adeyemi | Borussia Dortmund |
| 1 | Marc-Andre ter Stegen | Girona |
7. Kevin Schade
Schade was qualified to compete internationally for both Germany and Nigeria because he was born to a German mother and a Nigerian father. His first official call-up to the German senior national team for the friendly against Peru and Belgium came on March 17, 2023. But the attacker has not been called up to the World Cup roster for his country.
6. Noah Atubolu
Despite playing at various youth levels for the German national team, Noah Atubolu was overlooked by Julian Nagelsmann in his World Cup squad. The goalkeeper, who has been regular for Freiburg, was disappointed to not make it to the Germany World Cup squad.
5. Yann Aurel Bisseck
Centre-back Yann Aurel Bisseck has failed to persuade Julian Nagelsmann to include him in the Germany national team roster for the 2026 World Cup. This is even though he was a member of the Inter Milan team that won the domestic double in 2025–2026.
The 25-year-old defender recently expressed his desire to join the Germany World Cup team for this summer’s competition in North America. But Nagelsmann’s final 26-man squad list, which was released on Thursday, does not include him.
4. Robert Andrich

According to the German publication, the 31-year-old defensive midfielder received a phone call from Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann informing him of his decision.
Andrich started every game for Nagelsmann’s team at Euro 2024, making him a vital member of Germany’s squad.
But after playing just three minutes in a 1-0 victory against Northern Ireland in October, he hasn’t been called up to the national team.
3. Niclas Füllkrug

Füllkrug of AC Milan is not part of Julian Nagelsmann’s 26-man roster for the June 11–July 19 competition in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
In January, Füllkrug left his parent club, West Ham United, to join Milan on loan. Despite having just one goal in 19 games for Milan, he expressed optimism that he would be included in the World Cup team.
2. Karim Adeyemi

Karim Adeyemi, an attacker for Borussia Dortmund, is not included in Germany’s World Cup roster. According to the report, Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of Germany, only intended to propose one of Maximilian Beier, Kevin Schade, or Karim Adeyemi. In the end, he decided to summon Beier, a Borussia Dortmund teammate of Adeyemi.
1. Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Manager Julian Nagelsmann has stated that Marc-André ter Stegen would not be included in Germany’s World Cup 2026 team.
Although it is hardly shocking, the decision is yet another setback for the goalie. In an attempt to play frequently, Ter Stegen moved to Girona on loan in January. However, he later sustained a hamstring injury that necessitated surgery.
Is Marc-André ter Stegen called up?
No, he hasn’t been called up.
Which group are the Die Mannschaft in?
They are in Group E.
