The Socceroos confirmed the roster on June 1.

Australia have now unveiled the final list of players to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They must now prepare well, as the mega competition is around the corner.

The upcoming edition of FIFA’s flagship tournament is all set to take place in Canada, Mexico and the USA. The stage is set and the start date is June 1. A total of 48 teams from around the world are going to give their all for the prestigious title.

Tony Popovic’s men are coming in after facing a defeat in their recent international friendly encounter against Mexico. It was an underwhelming performance by the Socceroos. They failed to control the game and did not make enough efforts in the final third.

The Australian national football team is all set to take on Switzerland in their final friendly ahead of the World Cup and it is going to be a perfect opportunity for them to gain some momentum. The list of final players is now out and stars like Jackson Irvine and Harry Souttar are present.

Martin Boyle

Even after playing an important role in the attacking front for the Australia national football team, Martin Boyle has not been included in the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He did not feature for the Socceroos last time due to an injury and might have been left out this time around due to his underwhelming efforts on the field.

Brandon Borrello

The 30-year-old has been left out of Australia’s final squad for the World Cup. Brandon Borrello only scored four goals in the A League this season and this might not have been enough good numbers to secure a spot to compete in the World Cup.

Joe Gauci

The 25-year-old goalkeeper did put in some decent performances in the English third division for Port Vale FC. Joe Gauci could’ve played an important role for Australia here, but Tony Popovic went ahead with options like Maty Ryan, Paul Izzo and Patrick Beach.

Kye Rowles

The centre-back for DC United has not been included in the Socceroos’ final squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026. He has 29 appearances for his national team till now, but he is not in a top run of form at the moment and this might have been the reason for not adding Kye Rowles.

Riley McGree

Riley McGree has been on the sidelines due to an injury for half the season already. For Middlesbrough, he scored six goals and has three assists to his name. Even though he was called up to play for Australia in March, the playmaker has been left off the final roster for the World Cup this year.

When will Australia play their first match in FIFA World Cup 2026?

The Socceroos will take on Turkiye on June 13.

Who will Australia face in the group stage of FIFA World Cup 2026?

Paraguay, Turkiye and the USA.

Who is the head coach of the Australia national football team?

Tony Popovic.
