Top seven players left out of Spain's FIFA World Cup 2026 final squad ft. Huijsen & Morata

La Roja unveiled the 26-man roster on May 25.
The Spain national football team will now be gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They have now unveiled the final list of players who will represent them on the grandest stage of all.
Luis de la Fuente’s men have been on a sensational run of form. Having won the UEFA Euro 2024, they are the European champions and will now be looking to battle it out for their second FIFA World Cup trophy. La Roja went on to clinch their maiden title during the 2010 edition.
Along with top names like France and England, the Spanish national football team is also one of the favourites to win the upcoming edition of FIFA’s flagship tournament. They have announced their final star-studded lineup.
Stars like Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Nico Williams and others have been included in the final 26-man squad. It will be interesting to see their performances on the world stage.
Meanwhile, there are also some top names that have not been included in the final list. Dani Carvajal, Álvaro Morata, Samu Aghehowa, etc. miss out.

| Players | Clubs |
| Dani Carvajal | Real Madrid |
| Alvaro Morata | Como 1907 |
| Fermin Lopez | FC Barcelona |
| Samu Aghehowa | FC Porto |

7. Alex Remiro

The Real Sociedad goalkeeper has not been included in Spain’s final 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Alex Remiro went on to win the Copa del Rey with his club and put in some decent performances. The 31-year-old might have missed out due to the competition for places with names like David Raya, Joan Garcia and Unai Simon.

6. Álvaro Carreras
After having an underwhelming and trophyless season with Real Madrid, Alvaro Carreras failed to receive a call-up to represent Spain at the grandest stage of them all. The left-back failed to do enough for his club. It could be one of the reasons he has been left out.
Options like Marc Cucurella and Alejandro Grimaldo have been given the first preference.
5. Dean Huijsen

Dean Huijsen is another Real Madrid player who has failed to find his way into the final 26-man roster for the Spain national football team. The 21-year-old has shown a lot of potential on the field this season. But against the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Aymeric Laporte and Eric Garcia, he did not stand a chance.
4. Samu Aghehowa
The 22-year-old in-form forward will not represent Spain at the FIFA World Cup 2026. This is because he is suffering from a cruciate ligament tear injury. He is only going to return to action around late October or November 2026.

3. Fermin Lopez

The FC Barcelona star recently suffered a metatarsal fracture. This is going to keep him out of action till September 2026. Fermin Lopez has shown some great performances for the LaLiga giants this season and could’ve also played an important role for La Roja on the world stage.
The 23-year-old will be sitting out for the upcoming edition of the FIFA World Cup.
2. Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata had been one of the main men in the attacking front for the Spain national football team. He has scored 37 goals in 87 appearances for La Roja. However, this time he has not been included to represent them for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 33-year-old won the Nations League in 2023 and the Euros in 2024 with Spain. But due to his recent dip in form, Morata has been left out. He has only scored one goal in 30 games for Como 1907 this season.
1. Dani Carvajal

Due to his limited playing time for Los Blancos and recurring injuries this season, Dani Carvajal has failed to receive a call-up for La Roja. He has made 52 appearances for the Spain national football team and is also regarded as one of the best right-backs in history. Pedro Porro is going to be the first choice under Luis de la Fuente.
