Top five players left out of Sweden's FIFA World Cup 2026 squad ft. Larsson & Bardghji

Graham Potter has made several difficult decisions.

The Sweden men’s national football team have released a list of players who will represent them at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. It will be interesting to see their performances on the biggest stage of football.

The upcoming edition of FIFA’s flagship competition is all set to take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The tournament is all set to begin on June 11. The qualified teams from all around the world will gear up to battle for the big prize.

Sweden’s manager, Graham Potter, has announced a 26-man final squad for the FIFA World Cup. Players like Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, Anthony Elanga, Daniel Svensson, etc., have been named in the squad. But some names failed to make the list.

5. Hugo Larsson

Hugo Larsson plays for the Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt. The 21-year-old has been omitted from the squad after he has struggled to put up top performances for his club this season. Larsson was one of the regular players in the squad (12 appearances) for Sweden, but has now been dropped.

4. Sebastian Nanasi

Sebastian Nanasi is another midfielder on the list who has failed to make it to Sweden’s squad for the upcoming World Cup. The 23-year-old has not been consistent on the field for his club Strasbourg. This probably made Graham Potter clear about his exclusion from the squad.

3. Samuel Dahl

Due to his underwhelming efforts on the field for SL Benfica, Samuel Dahl has failed to make it to the 26-man Sweden squad for the upcoming edition of the mega competition. There are some more consistent players other than the 23-year-old, who might make a better impact on the field.

2. Roony Bardghji

The player who was showing promises of making some serious impact on the field for FC Barcelona has been omitted from the squad that will represent Sweden at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The midfielder, who also plays on the right wing, might get a chance in the next edition. For now, he will sit out.

1. Dejan Kulusevski

Because of the knee injury, Graham Potter has not included the Tottenham Hotspur star in the squad. He is recovering at the moment. His fellow Spurs teammate, Lucas Bergvall, has been called up.

The absence of Dejan Kulusevski can haunt Sweden. They must make use of the selected players to compete on the biggest stage of them all.
