Top three players Manchester City should sign in January transfer window

Pep Guardiola could aim to bring new additions to turn around the season.
Based on club-record revenue figures, Manchester City are reportedly “ready” to make some signings during the January transfer window.
Under Pep Guardiola, the Cityzens had a strong start to the 2024-25 Premier League season, winning seven of their first nine games.
Guardiola’s team struggled without Rodri in the middle of the pitch as City lost four straight Premier League games before defeating Nottingham Forest 3-0 to halt the slide. Post that we have seen them suffer two more defeats in three Premier League games. One of those coming against bitter rivals Manchester United.
In order to restart their faltering season, Manchester City will now make every effort to acquire some top players during the January transfer window to return to winning ways.
3. Liam Delap
Liam Delap is allegedly considering rejoining Manchester City. The defending champions are keeping a close eye on his performances and have not ruled out re-signing him in 2025. In the summer, City transferred Delap to Ipswich for £20 million. It came after loan stints in the second division at Stoke City, Preston, and Hull City.
They obviously recognized the potential in the forward, who only played six games for City and scored one goal. Seemingly knowing that Delap could reach new heights this season, City included a repurchase and a 20% sell-on provision in the sale.
2. Bruno Guimaraes
The head coach of City has already tried to sign Newcastle United star Guimarães. After the Premier League winners reported record sales of £715 million ($906m) and a transfer profit of £139m in their annual financial statement, sources revealed that Pep Guardiola will be encouraged to pursue January target Bruno Guimarães in an attempt to salvage the team’s season.
1. Martin Zubimendi
Since he replaced Rodri in the second half of the Euro 2024 final against England and kept on to play well in the City lynchpin’s absence—including netting the lone goal against Denmark last month—Zubimendi is the most apparent choice to replace him.
When Liverpool triggered his £51 million ($64 million) release clause in the summer, the 25-year-old was about to sign with the Merseysiders, but he decided to remain with Real Sociedad, his youth club. Since then, Manchester City have apparently been keeping a watchful eye on Zubimendi.
