Top four players missing from Bosnia and Herzegovina's squad for FIFA World Cup 2026

Some notable names have been left off Bosnia’s squad.
On May 11, 2026, Bosnia and Herzegovina announced their 26-man team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They prioritised youth by inviting Armin Gigović and Esmir Bajraktarević, but veteran Edin Džeko was included despite injury concerns.
A number of players from recent qualifying games are absent from the team, which consists of a mix of skilled players playing in Europe and other leagues around the globe. Here are five players who won’t be travelling with the national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

4. Emir Karić

Before joining Liefering in 2015, Karić began his professional career at LASK. He moved to Rheindorf Altach three years later. He joined SV Darmstadt in 2021. In 2024, he relocated to Sturm Graz.
Karić, a former youth international for Austria, debuted for the Bosnia & Herzegovina senior team in 2025 after changing his allegiance. The player was not selected for their 2026 World Cup squad despite making his debut.
3. Jusuf Gazibegović

In 2018, Jusuf Gazibegović was assigned to Liefering by Red Bull Salzburg, where he began his professional career. He joined Sturm Graz after two years. He then joined FC Koln in 2025. In 2026, FC Köln loaned him back to Sturm Graz.
While playing for Sturm Graz, right-back Jusuf Gazibegovic was a regular for Bosnia; however, he lost his spot for both club and nation after joining FC Koln. He returned to Sturm Graz on loan and played first-team football in January, but he hasn’t been selected for Barbarez’s team.
2. Haris Hajradinović
Before joining Olimpic in 2012, Haris Hajradinović began his professional career at Željezničar. He transferred to Inter Zaprešić a year later. He moved to Trenčín later that year. He was moved to Gent the next year. He was loaned to Haugesund in 2016, and a year later, he accepted a permanent contract. 2017 saw Hajradinović relocate to Osijek. He joined Kasımpaşa after two years.
Hajradinović, who has played for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s youth side, made his senior international debut in 2019 and has since earned 16 caps. Regrettably, he was left out of their 2026 World Cup roster.
1. Said Hamulić
Said Hamulić started his career at Dainava but spent most of his playing career switching clubs, either on loan or permanent moves. He wasn’t regular at a single club as he kept changing clubs. Currently, the forward is playing for Polish side Wisła Płock.
Hamulić has only received six caps for Bosnia & Herzegovina since making his senior international debut in 2023, and hasn’t been called up to the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
