Winning possession in football is one of the most important traits.

Football players believe that possession of the ball leads to success. Teams with higher possession percentages are said to have more game control. They can control the pace of play, move the ball into more advanced areas of the field, and increase the number of goal-scoring possibilities thanks to this control. Another argument is that keeping possession of the ball shortens the opponent’s time on it, hence reducing their chances of scoring goals.

Every team has a player who acts as a possession winner and brings control back into the game. With that being said, we have listed the top 10 players who have won the most possession in 2024.
