Top five players to wear Barcelona's no.14 kit

Marcus Rashford is the latest Barca player to be handed the No. 14.

For the 2025–2026 season, Marcus Rashford chose to wear the number ’14’ with FC Barcelona, with whom he has already signed a contract as a new player. The club also have the option to buy him outright after a season’s loan.

It is not surprising that he chose 14 as his new number, as he had already used it with the Manchester United U-21 team during the 2015–16 season. But this time, his decision is justified by his desire to emulate his favourite football player, Thierry Henry, who wore the number when playing for Barcelona from 2007 to 2010.

Aside, Henry, there have been many other top Barca players who have sported the iconic number, and with this, we have listed the best Barca stars to don that number.

Rashford is the newest member of the lot. He is now a Barca player and will be the latest player ever to sport the number 14. The former Manchester United player seems very excited about joining the Spanish club.

“Barça is a place where dreams come true. Here good players can enjoy the game and I really love football.”

The 27-year-old is a 62 international capped player with England, with 17 goals for the national team. In 426 appearances for the Red Devils, the Manchester-born athlete delivered 138 goals and 77 assists.

4. Philippe Coutinho

Philippe Coutinho, who was signed as one of the team’s top offensive picks, had ups and downs in his career. It was a dream move for the Brazilian as the Spanish club spent a mammoth amount of money to acquire his services. His signing was witnessed as the most brilliant acquisition by the club, given his time at Liverpool.

But after two or three seasons, Coutinho’s importance at the club dwindled as his time there was also marred by injuries. However, in his four years at Barcelona, he won two LaLiga titles and one Copa del Rey. During the 2019–20 season, he was loaned to Bayern Munich.

3. Javier Mascherano

The name of Javier Mascherano is inextricably linked to the number “14.” Since he was a member of the team that won the treble (League, Copa del Rey, and Champions League) in the 2014–15 season, the Argentine defender not only donned it for the duration of his years at the club but also turned it into a symbol.

Mascherano was one of the club’s best centre-backs and was fundamental in helping them win two Champions Leagues. He spent an impressive eight years at Barcelona and remained their first-choice defender alongside Gerard Piqué.

2. Jordi Cryuff

Following the implementation of the fixed number system at Barça, Jordi Cryuff, the son of the renowned Johan Cruyff, was the first player to wear the number ’14’. He did it as a tribute to his father, who wore it when he was a prominent player at Ajax, and for a very personal purpose.

1. Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry made the number “14” more significant than anyone else during his time playing for Barça. Under Pep Guardiola’s leadership, he was a key member of the squad that won an unprecedented sextuple for Barça (League, Champions League, Cup, Spanish Super Cup, European Super Cup, and Club World Cup).
