Uzbekistan vs Colombia: Top five players to watch out for in FIFA World Cup 2026 ft Luis Díaz & Abdukodir Khusanov

These players are expected to make a massive impact in the FIFA World Cup 2026 clash.

The action from group K will take us to the Mexico City Stadium, where Uzbekistan and Colombia will face off against each other. The group also contains Portugal and DR Congo, and it will be interesting to see these teams competing with each other for a place in the knockouts.

Colombia have been revived as the heavyweights of world football by the managerial leadership of Nestor Lorenzo. They finished third in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers, just behind Ecuador and Argentina.

Uzbekistan, on the other hand are quite new to a stage like this. They had a historic campaign and managed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With their resilience and defensive discipline, Uzbekistan have to potential to accomplish great things at the tournament.

As there is no shortage of talent on either side, we will take a look at the Top five players to watch in the game between Uzbekistan and Colombia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

5. Davinson Sánchez

Davinson Sánchez plays his club football for Galatasaray and has been a consistent starter for the national team, as he has made 79 appearances for Colombia already. He is an old-school center back with safety first mindset. He is strong and is dominant in both ground and aerial duels.

4. Eldor Shomurodov

Uzbekistan’s captain and veteran striker, Eldor Shomurodov, takes up the fourth spot on our list. He is the all time top goalscorer for Uzbekistan as he has netted 44 goals throughout his legendary career. Shomurodov has the opportunity of representing Uzbekistan on the biggest stage of football, and we are expecting him to rise to the occasion and lead his country from the front.

3. James Rodríguez

FIFA World Cup and James Rodríguez are synonymous with each other. The Colombian took the world by storm in 2014 when he announced himself to the world on Brazilian soil. Despite some inconsistencies and issues at the club level, James Rodríguez has always stepped up for the national team. He was arguably the best player at the 2024 Copa America and will look to replicate something similar during this year’s World Cup as well.

2. Abdukodir Khusanov

Uzbekistan are experiencing their golden age of football right now. Among their talented squad, Manchester City’s Abdukodir Khusanov stands out as their best player at the moment.  Khusanov is known for his frightening pace and aggressive tackling, which does not allow the opposition attackers to spend too much time on the ball. He also reads the game very well and hardly puts a foot wrong despite his young age.

1. Luis Díaz

Topping our list is Bayer Munich’s electrical winger, Luis Díaz.  He had a memorable 2025/26 season with Bayern Munich as he registered 26 goals and 23 assists in 51 appearances. He was phenomenal for them for the entirety of their UEFA Champions League run as well. He is Colombia’s most consistent attacker, and Uzbekistan will have to pay special attention to him.
