Portugal predicted lineup vs DR Congo for FIFA World Cup 2026

Portugal and DR Congo are drawn in Group K of the FIFA World Cup alongside Uzbekistan and Colombia.
Portugal’s hunt for glory starts today as they will face the DR Congo in the first game of their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign. The game will be played at the Houston Stadium in Texas on Tuesday, May 16.
Seleção das Quinas qualified for the World Cup on a dominant note by securing direct qualification and finishing first in their UEFA qualifying group. They also recorded a one-sided 9–1 victory over Armenia in Porto.
Cristiano Ronaldo is playing his sixth World Cup, and it is realistically his last chance of winning the tournament. The Portuguese squad have a lot of depth and are one of the favourites to win the title; however, the side has always achieved limited success at the competition.
Depending on how Roberto Martinez decides to field his players, either 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, the style of play will change. However, one thing that will remain constant is the side’s possession- and control-based playing style.
In 1974, DR Congo became the first sub-Saharan nation to qualify for the tournament; however, they suffered heartbreaking defeats against Scotland (2-0), Yugoslavia (9-0), and reigning champions Brazil (3-0) in the group stage. After 52 long years, they are finally returning to the coveted tournament, where they have been drawn alongside Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan.
