The Selecao will face Denmark in the Nations League quarterfinals
In an attempt to advance to the tournament’s final four, Roberto Martinez has announced Portugal’s squad for the quarterfinal matchup against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
Cristiano Ronaldo at the age of 40 continues to make a cut in the squad and will spearhead the attacking line with other players for their Nation League game.
Ruben Dias is back in the Portuguese team captained by Cristiano Ronaldo for their forthcoming quarterfinal matchup with Denmark in the Nations League.
Dias, a 27-year-old defender for Manchester City, had been out due to a muscle injury sustained during this Premier League season.
Martinez has also given a chance to a teenager Geovany Quenda, the young attacker for Sporting Lisbon, has also been called up for the first time.
“At 17, being in the national team shows his potential,” said coach Roberto Martinez, insisting the youngster’s age was “not a problem”.
“What matters is quality, commitment and work,” the Spaniard told a press conference. “If I could call them all, I would because they deserve it, but it’s not possible,” he added, with Al-Hilal defender Joao Cancelo and Al-Nassr midfielder Otavio both injured.
Portugal will take on Denmark in Copenhagen on March 20 and at home in Lisbon three days after on Sunday.
