These sides in the league have secured the most victories on Boxing Days.
The Premier League has always played games on Boxing Day and is now a part of the English culture and celebrations. As part of the joyous weekend, fans take advantage of the day off to cheer on their teams.
In the UK, the 26th of December is referred to as Boxing Day. Originally intended as a day to donate gifts to the underprivileged, Boxing Day has evolved into a chance for people to buy and have fun, the day after Christmas.
The five Premier League teams with the most victories on the 26th are shown below. In addition to the regular big names, there are a few unexpected ones.
5. Manchester City: 43 wins
Manchester City are among the best and have improved their fortunes on Boxing Day in recent seasons. The progress they have made since their takeover is demonstrated by the 43 victories they have recorded. They were fifth in the league after Christmas last year but ended up winning the championship. This year, they are in seventh place and will play Everton on Boxing Day.
4. Everton: 43 wins
On Boxing Day, Everton participated in 93 games and won 43 of them. They have failed to secure many wins on Boxing Days in the Premier League over the last few years and have struggled to put up a consistent performance. In an attempt to reach 44 victories on Boxing Day, Everton will go to Etihad Stadium this year to take on a sluggish Man City.
3. Liverpool: 44 wins
One of the best teams in English football, Liverpool‘s fortunes have drastically shifted since 2015, when Jurgen Klopp took over. On Boxing Day, they have won 44 games. New head coach Arne Slot oversaw the Reds on Boxing Day.
Slot enjoyed beating Leicester City yesterday. The 3-1 victory after adding makes it 44 wins for the record.
2. Aston Villa: 46 wins
With 46 victories on Boxing Day, Aston Villa have a strong record. But in recent years, they have struggled to earn three points. They hosted Chelsea at Villa Park on December 26 of last year, where they were defeated three goals to one.
They will welcome Newcastle United this year. With Unai Emery in charge and their turnaround in the performance, there ought to be more optimism.
1. Manchester United: 51 wins
Manchester United are the Premier League side with the most victories on Boxing Day, having won 51 games on the 26th of December.
