Liverpool manager Arne Slot announced the date when Mohamed Salah will depart for AFCON 2025. He revealed that the Egyptian forward will join his national team teammates on 15 December.
The competition, staged in Morocco, will take place from December 21 to January 18 (for the finals). The last group stage match, which Egypt are certain to play, is against Angola on December 29.
Mohamed Salah’s Egypt are included in a group of four with Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The top two go to the knockout phase, plus the best four third-placed teams. No matter how they progress, it would potentially extend Mohamed Salah’s absence from Liverpool.
Moreover, if he leads them deep into the competition, then he is expected to miss many crucial games for the Reds in the Premier League.
