Liverpool spent the most during the 2025 transfer window.
Premier League clubs have once again flexed their financial muscle during the current summer transfer window, as the expenditure surpassed £3bn.
However, the league recorded £2.73 billion spent until 31st August, but following the much-awaited move of Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a British transfer record of £125m, the total was pushed to £3.087 billion.
The spending has also exceeded last year’s outlay, which was £1.96bn. However, the most records spent have been for the league clubs – £2.36bn spent in the summer 2023 window.
Now that mark has been surpassed by the 2025 summer transfer window, which is more than Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A clubs combined.
Premier League clubs continue to dominate the transfer market

It’s not surprising that the English top-flight teams have made many huge signings, splurging money as they reinforce the squad for the current season.
One of the major spenders has been Liverpool, which was odd to witness as the Reds under Jurgen Klopp’s era barely made any big signings. However, since the arrival of Arne Slot, the club has spent exorbitantly. They made two high-profile acquisitions when they bought Florian Wirtz and finally Alexander Isak.
Behind them were other big clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City. As all four clubs made blockbuster signings, Liverpool’s transfer window tops all the clubs in the league this season.
Following the signing of Isak, their summer spending rose to £415m, breaking the previous record of Chelsea in the summer of 2023 (£400m).
They have set a few records with their big spending this transfer window, as they are not only the club to spend more than any other European club, but also almost as much as the total spent in other European leagues.
However, on paper, their attacking line will appear stronger than every club in the league, but it will be interesting to see how the team fares in the games.
