Prince William has long been a fan of Premier League team Aston Villa.
The future King of England, Prince William, has caused a “TV stampede” as big news channels scramble to hire him as their pundit, reports suggest.
When the 42-year-old heir to the British throne appeared on TNT Sports prior to his favourite Aston Villa’s Champions League quarterfinal matchup with Paris Saint-Germain, he dazzled viewers with his tactical skills and game knowledge.
TNT, the BBC, Amazon Prime, and Sky Sports were allegedly eager to cast William in upcoming television projects after a video of the Prince talking about football swiftly received over a million views on social media.
Prince William is “100 per cent” open to taking on more punditry work, according to The Mirror, provided that the offers fit into his already packed royal itinerary.
Sky Sports will broadcast Villa’s Premier League match against Newcastle live on April 19. On April 26, Villa will play Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semifinals and the games will be telecasted on BBC.
The Mirror was informed by a royal source:
“Prince William absolutely loved the experience and would 100% be up for doing it again. He is a passionate football fan and has really enjoyed following Aston Villa’s success this season.
“He’s definitely hoping some of their good fortune rubs off on the England team for their remaining World Cup qualifiers. William believes the beautiful game has the power to bring communities together and is really pleased his appearance has had such a positive reaction.”
The source added: “The producers at TNT were over the moon with the segment and the incredible reaction and would love to have him back.” Kensington Palace are unable to confirm or deny whether more television work could be agreed for Prince William.
Prince William is a massive Villa fan and has been watching their matches since he was a kid and over the years he has been invited to Wembley to watch FA Cup final matches as a guest.
