The French club will hope for Dembele to be ready for the second leg against Arsenal.

Ousmane Dembele suffered a hamstring injury during Tuesday’s Champions League victory over Arsenal, according to a statement issued by Paris Saint-Germain.

After winning the first leg by a slim margin of 1-0, the French champions have one foot in the final. They will host the Gunners in the second leg.

Even if they might not have won the tie at the Emirates, Luis Enrique’s team is expected to do the job at Parc des Princes this Wednesday.

After scoring a game-tying goal against Liverpool to force the game into shootouts at Anfield earlier in the competition, Ousmane Dembele, who is having the best campaign of his entire career to date, scored the lone goal against the Gunners.

‘Ousmane Dembele has strained his right hamstring,’ a statement on PSG’s official website read. ‘His condition is progressing well. A further assessment will be carried out shortly.’

Ousmane Dembele had to be taken off against the Gunners halfway through the second half. He will not play in tonight’s Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg.

Against Arsenal, Luis Enrique’s team once again made an impression, limiting Mikel Arteta’s team to chasing shadows in the first 30 minutes. They could have secured a win with a big scoreline.

With the league title already certain, it makes sense that PSG’s domestic play has slowed down recently. The Spanish manager maintains that it is still crucial to finish strong and get ready for the second leg against Arsenal.

‘Our end to the season is atypical,’ he said. ‘We have achieved our league objective. But it is important to take this match in Strasbourg as a test for the other competitions.’

‘It’s always difficult to play away, even more so against this type of team. The motivation is there, we’re at the best moment of the season. It’s a very positive moment for the players and for everyone.’
