The Ligue 1 side are in talks with Benfica to sign the Portuguese midfielder.

Joao Neves, a midfielder for SL Benfica, is Paris Saint-Germain’s No. 1 target. The Parisians have reached an agreement on personal terms with the player.

Neves is PSG’s main target and is eager to leave Benfica, according to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport. However, negotiations have stalled over Benfica’s high asking price, which could force the Ligue 1 club to sell players in order to raise funds.

Neves has been one of the underrated midfielders since he became a prominent figure at Benfica. He was earlier reported to be joining Manchester United, but PSG seem to be leading the race.

Benfica are requesting €120m, which PSG are hesitant to match, although the French club are willing to offer over €70m. Neves also believes a transfer to PSG is a better option than moving to Manchester United.

With PSG reaching an agreement on personal terms, the last step now would be to come up with an agreement with the parent club to complete his signing. But, the Portuguese giants are demanding an exorbitant fee which could cause issues in the signing of the midfielder.

At this point, the competition is still open for Arsenal and any other potential suitors, as PSG are unwilling to pay that amount and have already had their initial offer rejected. Since Benfica are known to be tough negotiators, the deal won’t be easy to close.

If Arsenal were to sign Neves this summer, it would essentially mean that almost their entire budget would have to be spent on one player, which would restrict any additional signings in other areas.
